Vitality stopped FaZe's historic streak

For the first time since the release of CS2, FaZe Clan will not be playing in the finals of their tournament after Vitality defeated them 2-0 in the ESL Pro League quarterfinal derby.

FaZe Clan has made eight consecutive finals in all competitions played since CS esports switched from CS:GO to CS2, including the finals of the first CS2 Major in Copenhagen. That's why they are currently convincingly on the first place of the HLTV world rankings, but every series must have an end, including this one.

The main reason for the defeat is definitely the unstoppable Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, the best player in the world, who in this match also broke the world record when it comes to ratings in Bo3 matches at major tournaments.

ZywOo, who has excelled throughout the ESL Pro League, finished the match against the best team in the world with a 2.21 rating, a 54-21 kill record and an incredible 142.7 damage per round. If he continues like this in the semi-finals and potentially in the finals, ZywOo can easily set a new record for the best rating in major tournaments.

Vitality opened the quarterfinals with a convincing 13- win on Nuke, where ZywOo went wild on the opponent's pick and made 24 frags with only six deaths and an overall 2.42 rating. FaZe bounced back on Vertigo's start, trailing 8-4 at halftime, but Vitality went on to take nine of 11 rounds for a 13-10 win.

Before this match, Astralis and Team Liquid met, and the Danish team won 2-0 (13-9 Inferno, 13-7 Overpass) and they will be the opponent of the Vitality team tonight in the battle for the semi-finals. This match is on the program from 16:15, while after that we watch Complexity and MOUZ.
