C9 defeated G2, FURIA and MongolZ dropped out of the Major

G2 Esports will be playing for survival at the Major starting today after suffering a second consecutive defeat, this time against Cloud9, while teams FURIA and MongolZ bid farewell to the Major, losing in 0-2 team duels.

G2's good start quickly faded into oblivion after two straight losses against Na'Vi and Cloud9. And while Na'Vi is now a regular winner in the clashes against G2, they entered the duel with C9 as big favorites, but they failed to justify that role.

Although there was only one map played, G2 let it be by far Cloud9's best map statistically in the last three months, Anubis, where they have an amazing 83% win rate. C9 showed why they are doing so well on the map, they pulled out a draw at half time playing the weaker CT side, only to easily take down G2 in the sequel and celebrate with a 13-9 score.

In the winning ranks, Denis "electroNic" Sharipov was the best with a score of 26-12, 122.2 damage per round and a 1.85 rating, while in G2, Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov especially failed, who finished the match with by far the worst statistics in the team, including 11 frags. , 43.3 ADR score and 0.68 rating.

The biggest surprise among the results of the 1-1 team was the convincing 13-1 triumph of Eternal Fire against the best-ranked team in the world according to the HLTV ranking, the FaZe Clan team. The Turkish team completely outplayed FaZe in every segment of the game on the Overpass map and demonstrated a really great quality of play that they will have to transfer to the Bo3 matches if they want to reach the quarterfinals.

We didn't see any surprises in the remaining matches, Vitality defeated Imperial 13-9 on Overpass, and VP 13-6 Heroic on the Ancient map.

Asia was left without its last representative in the tournament, the MongolZ team fought bravely and lost to paiN Gaming (13-9 Mirage, 10-13 Nuke, 19-22 Inferno) only after three overtimes on the decisive third map.

ECSTATIC defeated FURIA 2-1 and thus saved G2 and FaZe from a clash in the next round (13-7 Overpass, 14-16 Inferno, 13-7 Ancient). They'll be playing for survival against G2 today, and here's the full schedule for the fourth round.
