In an unexpected announcement, Valve released the news that Dota 2 The International 2024 will take place in Copenhagen, which means that for the first time since 2011, European audiences will be able to watch the fight for the legendary Aegis live.
In a text on the official Valve blog, which you can read at this link, the American gaming company revealed the first information about this year's The International.
The best Dota 2 teams in the world will battle it out in the Royal Arena, the same edition that will host the stars of CS2 esports this month in the first CS2 Major - the PGL Copenhagen Major.
The news comes as a surprise, considering Valve brought TI back to Seattle last year, which was thought to be the host again this year. Let us remind you that the TI was last held in Europe in 2021 when Romania was the host, but then the presence of the audience was not allowed due to the corona virus epidemic.
Although not too many details about the tournament itself are still known, Valve has hinted that participants will come from different sides - from direct invitations, to open and closed qualifiers. Invitations will be distributed according to performance at the largest Dota 2 tournaments that will be held in the coming period, and soon we expect more information about whether Valve will use specific scoring or how and exactly how transparent the process of distributing direct invitations to participate in TI 2024.
