G2 esports announced tonight that Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas is the new coach of their CS2 team.
A veteran of CS esports who has spent over 20 years competing, he will finally try his hand as a coach, trying to pass on his vast experience to the players of G2 Esports.
TaZ became famous back in 2005, when the period of dominance of the so-called "Golden Five" emerged, which won three editions of the World Cyber Games, the biggest tournament at the time. After winning a large number of tournaments in the 1.6 era of the game, he then played during the golden era of the Virtus.pro Polish team in CS:GO, and wrote new pages in the history of this esports when they defeated Ninjas in Pajamas in the epic final of the ESL One Katowice 2014 Major.
He finished his playing career in March in the HONORIS team, and now it's time for a new challenge and baptism of fire in one of the most popular esports teams in the world.
TaZ has signed a multi-year contract, but will initially have to undergo a trial period with the team. He replaces Jan "Swani" Muller who decided to retire for personal reasons after a year leading the team.
When all is said and done, the question is whether anyone can match TaZ when it comes to overall success in CS esports, but now it's time for a brand new start, time to prove himself as a team leader off the server as well.
TaZ will not have an easy task at all, G2 recently went through changes in the composition when Nemanja "nexa" Isaković came, while Justin "jks" Savage was transferred to the bench, and G2 is currently going through a really turbulent period, a period that they have to leave behind themselves if they want to defend the title of BLAST World Final Champion won last year, and get their first major CS2 trophy.
