Peter "casle" Ardenskjold will no longer lead Astralis as a coach, the Danish esports organization has confirmed.
The former coach of Astralis Academy spent a little more than a year as the coach of the first team, and during that time the team went through major changes, which is why it is not surprising that the results were lacking.
With the arrival of the Heroic duo consisting of Martin "stavn" Lund and Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard, Astralis is entering a new era of existence, which is probably why it was determined that they also needed changes in the coaching staff.
As a reminder, Astralis played one tournament with a new lineup, but at BetBoom Dacha 2023, despite the weaker competition, they were already eliminated in the first round of the competition, i.e. in the group stage.
According to rumors, one of the main candidates for the position of the new coach is the Swedish veteran Richard "Xizt" Landstrom, who retired as the head coach of the Heroic team.
In January, Astralis expect the closed qualifiers for the EU RMR Major qualifiers, as well as the group stage of the BLAST Spring 2024 tournament, and immediately after that the IEM Katowice 2024 play-in, when we will see how far the new line-up really is and whether they can continuously place in the main stages of major tournaments.
